Collection: SOUTH JERSEY: Farias Surf & Sport
When Mario Farias purchased a house on Sixth Street in Surf City, he did not realize the impact his children and grandchildren would have on the business community and vacationers for years to come.
In 1969 his son Vince and wife Michele started Farias Sales & Rentals in Surf City, where Vince rented a dirt floor garage from a neighbor of the lifeguard barracks, who had a premonition that if he started a business there, it would become successful. The beach and bike shop opened providing rental items for everything people would need for their stay - eventually expanding their offering to include surfboards and apparel and into other locations.
Farias is truly a family business, with their children Brian and Stacey carrying on the tradition as the owners. Vince and Michele’s granddaughter Sarah Jordan is the women’s buyer for all of the surf shops, and also runs Five 0 Six Surf Boutique. Ally, Drew and Sydney all work in each of the stores during the summers. Brian’s god-mother Peg Caffrey runs the books and payables in the office.
Family owned and operated since 1969, Farias Surf & Sport is a Long Beach Island institution with six stores in Surf City, Ship Bottom and Beach Haven. They carry everything you need to enjoy beach living year round and offer curated collections -straight from the best brands in the industry.
